Going all the way to the state championship and having your quarterback unable to start is a big obstacle to overcome. It appears that Floyd County will not have to overcome that obstacle on Saturday. After suffering an injury to his ankle during last Saturday's thrilling 14-13 victory over Lebanon last Friday, the early indiciations are that the senior leader will be almost at full strength for the state final. He was fitted with a walking cast for his ankle and according to Coach Winfred Beale, Harris should be 95% healthy for the game. Ethan Griffith, who made a sensational leaping grab on a key fourth down situation in the game winning drive before slightly injuring his elbow, will be ready to go as well. According to Beale, the remainder of the team is healthy, minus the normal bumps and bruises after the long season. Floyd County is playing in its third state title game and in search of its first championship under the veteran head coach. Floyd County has never gone 13-0 in its history and are searching for that elusive 14th win this Saturday beginning at 4:15 in Salem. |

Lebanon (9-3 Overall) @ Floyd County (12-0 Overall) The Buffaloes are the best in Group A according to the VHSL power ratings. After a 42-13 blowout of Chilhowie last weekend, FC is entering today's game with lots of confidence and rightly so. The offense is peaking with senior QB Luke Harris at the helm and a strong defense led by junior defensive end Cole Peters. The Lebanon Pioneers defeated Gate City last week 19-13 and looking to pull the upset. This should be a very physical game. Catch the game LIVE on WFIR 960AM or see the re-play of the game on Citizens Cablevision's Public Access Channel starting Monday night. |
