Radford University President Penelope W. Kyle and the university’s athletic director Robert Lineburg announced Wednesday that Tajama Ngongba, a George Washington assistant coach and former WNBA player, has been named as RU’s head women’s basketball coach. |

George Mason plated two runs in the ninth inning to tie visiting Radford before scoring the winning run in the tenth to squeak past the Highlanders 7-6 on Wednesday. Radford had taken a one run lead with a five run fourth inning before adding to the lead with a run in the top of the ninth before Mason rallied. |

Behind two solid pitching performances, Winthrop swept Radford in a Big South doubleheader today from Dedmon Center Field Saturday. The Lady Eagles won game one, 2-0 and game two, 6-2. Winthrop improves to 22-14 overall and stays undefeated in Big South play at 5-0. The Highlanders fall to 25-10 and 0-2 as they played in their first two Conference games of the season. |

Sophomore catcher Sarah Himan (Woodbridge, Va.) was named Big South Choice Hotels Player of the Week for the third time this season as she continued her hot hitting in four games last week. Himan, who is on an eight-game hitting streak, was instrumental in Radford sweeping Virginia and James Madison to extend its winning streak to a school record-tying nine games. |
