The SuperBowl's General Manager Terry Stike and his staff were hosts to an all-time record for attendance for the event, surpassing last year's participant total by 25%. The SuperBowl, the official home for the past six years, ended the weekend with a tired staff but satisfied participants
The New River Valley was well represented with medal winners in the Boys' competition. Pulaski's Tanner Lawson captured the gold defeating Trevor Morgan in the final roll-off of the Boys 12 and under handicap division. Brandon Lawson of Draper earned the silver medal. Chris Hill and Paul Elliot captured gold and silver medal respectively in the Boys 12 and under scratch level. Blacksburg's Jamie Mabry had a successful weekend to garner a bronze medal.
The New River Valley were also well represented with a gold medal winner in the Boys 13-21 Scratch Divison. Christiansburg's Brandon King won the roll-off on Sunday whild John Kolessides took the Bronze Medal home to Great Falls. Rodney Echols wrapped up his work for the weekend by capturing the Silver Medal.
The boys competition was concluded with the 13-21 handicap division. Tom Brady (unlike the Patriots QB of the same name) took home the championship. Joshua Brock and Timothy Anderson followed Brady with second and third place finishes.
The girls competition was mingled with winners throughout the state of Virginia. In the Girls 13-21 Handicap level, the gold medal went to Molly Landon while Bianca Cruz of Stafford finished a strong second place. The Girls 12 and under scratch division saw Denistney Harfield, a Richmond-based kegler, take her gold medal back to the state capitol. Shelby Teachoot of Chesapeake finished second.
The older girls competition (Girls 13-21) produced winners from 6 different cities in the state. In the scratch division, Angla Gomez of Virginia Beach won a gold medal whild Sara Discosha of Hampton and Michelle Booth of Arlington left with silver and bronze medals. The Girls 12 and under Handicap Division saw Salem native Lilly Shell "crack" top honors to win a gold medal. Vanessa Medina and Christa Brothers finished in second and third place to the Roanoke Valley competitor.
The adult divison also concluded its comptition on Sunday. Heather Lewis of Axton won the gold, with Betty Garrett and Ginger Savage taking home medals as well. The Women's Open Scratch saw Salem resident Laurie Zerhel finishing first with Grace Durrant and Amber Michonski following her.
The Men's two divisions also were rewarded with another medal winner from Roanoke. Arlis Conner finished third and brought his Mens' Open Scratch Bronze Medal to the Star City. Newport News "delivered" the gold and silver medalists with Chris Bolosan and Ricky Boyters in the same division. The Mens' Handicap Divison saw Walter Cranfield, William Hill and Edwin Gomez finishing the weekend with top honors.
