Radford, Va.- Radford University placed 141 student-athletes on the Big South Conference’s prestigious Presidential Honor Roll. Radford was one of four full-time institutions with at least 50 percent of its student-athletes named to the honor roll, as 51.5 percent of its 274 student-athletes were recognized.
The Big South Conference placed 1,224 out of 2,784 student-athletes (44.0 percent) on its annual Presidential Honor Roll list for the 2007-08 academic season. To be named to the Presidential Honor Roll, student-athletes must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher for the recently-completed academic year. The 44.0 percent marks the fourth-straight year above the 40 percent threshold.
High Point led all Big South institutions, with 55.2 percent of its 221 student-athletes honored, to earn the top spot. Winthrop placed 53.6 percent of its 237 student-athletes on the list. Coastal Carolina was the fourth member to reach the 50 percent mark, with 51.2 percent.
"The Big South Conference has always taken a lot of pride in the academic accomplishments of its student-athletes," said Kallander. "To have nearly half of all student-athletes make the Presidential Honor Roll for the fourth consecutive year is a reflection of the outstanding individuals in the Conference and their priorities. We are all extremely proud of the achievements of these fine young men and women."
