Wythe Raceway drivers have only a few races left in the 2008 season to improve their points standing. In the Pro Late Model division Clinton Cook, Radford leads Wytheville driver Matt Parks by 18 points

The Super Street points race is the closest with Keith Griffitts, Sugar Grove has a three point lead over Rural Retreat driver Mike Keith followed by Jimmy Tate of Wytheville. In the Modified division Ron Lawson, Austinville has built up a 54 point lead over Michael Davis, Atkins. R K Dix Rural Retreat is only eight points out of second place and Willie Gibson, Abingdon is only two points back in fourth place. Doug Monday, Meadows and Randy Kincer, Rural Retreat have battled each other all season with Monday holding a 20 point lead. Cole Dutton, Chilhowie leads Michelle McMahan, Marion by 33 points. Clark Cooper, Rural Reteat is on two points behind McMahan. Pie Short of Abingdon is looking for her first track championship and has 32 point lead over Tim Widener of Marion. Most of the
divisions have four or five races remaining in the 2008 racing season.

Wythe Raceway will host the 5th annual Pro Late Model National Championship over Labor Day Weekend in conjuction with the FASTRAK racing series. The $10,000.00to win has attracted drivers from throughout the eastern US. A practice session for the Late Models will be held on Friday night with a full schedule on tap Saturday night including hot laps, qualifying and heat races. Qualifying times will be used to determine starting positions for the eight lap heat races. The top three or four finishers
in each heat race will advance to Sunday's main event. Saturday night fans will get to see a lot of Late Model racing as the heat race finishes determine their starting position for the main event. Support classes will also be in action Saturday and Sunday night. On Sunday night, consolation races will be run to finish out the 32 car starting field. With $10,000.00 to win and $500.00 to start the race there is no question about the excitement that will be generated for this stellar event. Local favorites, Matt Parks, Clinton Cook, Justin White and Brandon Umberger are all looking for the big check. Former Natiional champions Lee Cooper, Greer, SC and Shane Roberts, Bluff City, TN along with a host of other track and regional champions will be competing along with Ty and Austin Dillon, Richard Childress's grandsons.

The FASTRAK Series is proud to announce the renewal of it's partnership with WAL-MART to benefit the Children's Miracle Network. The FASTRAK Series will race at Wythe Raceway Aug 29-31. On Saturday, Aug. 30, drivers and race teams will be on hand at the WAL-MART Supercenter located at 345 Commonwealth Dr in Wytheville from 11:00 - 1:00. Fastrak Series Late Models set to race later in the day at Wythe Raceway will be on display. Drivers will be present to meet race fans, and sign autographs. All proceeds will go to the Children's Miracle Network.

With so many race teams on hand for the $10,000 To Win ‘Pro Late Model Nationals’ this will provide area race fans the opportunity to see FASTRAK Series Late Models up close and meet the drivers. Because Wythe Raceway is located only 10 minutes away and the gates not slated to open until later in the afternoon, all FASTRAK drivers and teams are encouraged to be a part of this special event. The Children’s Miracle Network is close to the hearts of many, and FASTRAK is honored to partner with WAL-MART once again to support CMN.

"WAL-MART and the Children’s Miracle Network have been great to work with this year" said FASTRAK Series founder Stan Lester. "This is a great opportunity for FASTRAK teams and their marketing partners to be a part of something really special, that benefits so many"

"I’d also like to thank Fred Brown of Wythe Raceway as well as Donna Harless from WAL-MART for the time and effort they’ve put into making this event happen" stated Lester.

Gates will open at 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday with preleminaries beginning at 7 pm with races to follow. Grandstand gates will open at 6:30 on Friday. For more information: www.WytheRaceWay.com
